Spanning more than 12 square miles and holding a population of more than 50,000, Brookhaven is the largest city in DeKalb County. Despite its size, Brookhaven has never lost sight of its history and humble beginnings, as many of the city’s old structures and locations have been preserved.

The city is home to several residential communities, which include the following:

  • North Brookhaven includes a large portion of the city’s District 1. The suburban atmosphere sets a relaxing tone for homes and other residential options. North Brookhaven is the location of Murphey Candler Park, the Nancy Creek PATH trail, and Peachtree Golf Club.
  • Historic Brookhaven is one of the oldest residential neighborhoods in Brookhaven. Expect to find a lot of classic architectural styles in the homes within this community.
  • Brookhaven Village isn’t your average residential area. It’s essentially an urban town center surrounded by several residential communities and composed of residential buildings, office spaces and commercial structures.

Aside from Murphey Candler Park, you may also enjoy Lynwood Park, which features not only greens but also sporting venues, swimming pool, playground, picnic area, and a recreational center. Meanwhile, Lenox Park, once designed as a country club, is now a bustling community that hosts residential and corporate spaces. This is the current location of the AT&T Mobility headquarters. The actual greenspace within this area is now called Central Park. Other parks within or near Brookhaven include Ashford Park, Briarwood Park, Fernwood Park, and Blackburn Park.

If you have kids and you’re planning to move into Brookhaven, you’ll be glad to know that schools are mere minutes from your future home. You may check out Oglethorpe University, a Georgia State University satellite campus, and several schools within the DeKalb Country School System. Meanwhile, if your place of work is within Atlanta, Brookhaven has its own MARTA rail station to connect you to nearby corporate locations. You may also use your own vehicle to travel to and from Brookhaven using the roads at North Druid Hills, Peachtree, or Ashford-Dunwoody.

Brookhaven may be huge in terms of land area and population, but its natural charm and cozy atmosphere has led many people to stay in the city for good. Isn’t it time that you also consider Brookhaven as your next home?
